Outdoor Learning
At Silverwood, outdoor learning is at the heart of how children grow, explore, and thrive. Every day, our students step into nature to discover new ways of learning, building curiosity, resilience, and problem-solving skills that can’t always be found inside four walls.
Outdoor learning takes many forms here. Sometimes it’s as simple as moving a lesson outside—writing poetry in the grass by the pond, gathering in camp chairs on the hill for a history discussion, or creating a model of the human body using sticks, leaves, and stones from the forest floor. Other times, it’s about immersing fully in the natural world—studying the plants and animals that call Silverwood home, listening to the songs of birds, or setting off on weekly Waldkinder explorations led by the children’s own curiosity.
No matter the form, outdoor learning nurtures creativity, well-being, and a deep connection to place. Rooted in exploration, relationships, and real-world application, it prepares our students to meet life’s challenges with confidence, compassion, and wonder.
The best things about Silverwood are
the teachers, my friends and the woods.
